summer adventure

During the summer my family and i travelled to Las Vegas.  We hired out an R.V and travelled out to the Grand canyon.  The gurney took around 6 hours, so the drive became very tedious with my sister and i fighting in the back of the R.V.  We drove around the canyon, visiting all the scenic spots.  We decided to watch the amazing sunset, as it slipped out of the canyon.  After visiting the canyon we traveled back to the strip and stayed in the Mandalay Bay hotel.  My family then went swimming in the wave pools near the resort, and we couldn’t believe how hot the air and the water was.  Vegas is a very lively place and one off the most fantastic parts of the trip was the huge fountains that shoot far into the sky in direct time with the music playing.  This trip was great, even for families.

After Las Vegas my family and I traveled to Alaska.  We once again hired an R.V and drove all around the small towns within alaska.  We had done many interesting activities such as river rafting, kayaking and fishing.  Fishing was great even though we didn’t manage to catch any fish.  However later on during the trip we spotted a huge salmon spawning river and we were able to spot some bears fishing.  After we drove a few miles down the road and found even more salmon and we decided to stick our hand in the water and catch the slimy creatures.  This trip was very enjoyable and the scenery was amazing.  Alaska is a great place to visit as long as it’s in the summer.  What was also very strange was how many hours of daylight their was.  It was hard to fall asleep even at 11:00 at night the sun was still shining bright.

  1. Did you go to any of the Cirque du Soleil shows?

Yes, I went with my family to see “KA” in the MGM hotel.
    What about you?

  2. I went to see Mystere. It was so good!! I also really want to go see ‘O’ the one with the water.

  3. Yeh i’m sure we will be back in Vegas at some time.

  4. I am jealous of the trip by RV to Alaska. Sounds great! How did you like living in a mobile home? Do you think it brought your family closer together or further apart?

  5. This is really fun to read- I love your descriptions of some of the places, and the midnight sun in Alaska. It reminded me of fighting with my brother and sister on the back seat of our old Vauxhall Viva car all the way to our seaside holidays when we were kids. We never got to Vegas though, only Llandudno in North Wales. Looking back, it was a wonder that the old car even got to the end of the road.
